This work shared space with the ”Nomencluster” project | Portfolio > Art-games
Project Details
Cryptext, a Sci-Fi art-game touted in the media as the “world’s largest Sci-Fi video game”, was built for one of the world’s largest,
most advanced touch screen spaces, located at QUT’s The Cube (four 40ft sides, over 40 touch screens, towering over two stories). It was featured on
Australian television and children’s shows.
The work involved significant user-testing and research into how to create effective interaction for such a
giant interactive space, including readers who may be standing up close, and those standing further away. It was made possible
by a $125,000 grant from the Australia Council of the Arts and the Queensland University of Technology. In Cryptext, players use giant
wheels, one to each touch screen, to solve a cryptic X-files style mystery surrounding a secret military technology program.
