Project Details
Diffracted Hemispheres explore the timeless power of light, with the lighthouse lens in focus.
The work is a part of the From Shadows To Beacons travelling exhibition, curated by Emma Gunnarsson
and produced by the North Cape Museum in 2023.
As described by Museum Nord:
"Nine Norwegian and international artists have been invited in this art project to gestalt the
timeless power of light, with the lighthouse lens in focus as a red thread throughout the exhibition.
Each artist has with different materials and media such as light, light, photography and sculpture
found their unique form. Through individual reflections on the role of the lens as a navigating
source in the darkness, the mythological landscape of the north, the power of the sea and the sonic
landscape of the coast, one gives the viewer the opportunity to experience the changing nature of
light and its influence on the senses. The artists contribute to this project with their perspectives
and methods through this close connection to nature that they show in their oeuvres. Through the artists’
works, the lighthouse becomes a prism for reading the coast."
